The Shininng - Stephen King

The Shininng - Stephen King

The Shining is a 1977 horror novel by American author Stephen King. The title was inspired by the John Lennon song "Instant Karma!", which contained the line "We all shine on…". It was King’s third published novel, and first hardback bestseller, and the success of the book firmly established King as a preeminent author in the horror genre. A film based upon the book, The Shining directed by  my favourite director, Stanley Kubrick, was released in 1980. The book was later adapted into a television mini-series in 1997.

The book is dedicated to King’s son, Joseph: "This is for Joe Hill King, who shines on."

PD:Maybe you remember a parody of this novel in "The Simpsons".

It - Stephen King

It - Stephen King

It is a 1986 horror novel by American author Stephen King. The story follows the exploits of seven children as they are terrorized by an eponymous inter-dimensional predatory life-form that exploits the fears and phobias of its victims in order to disguise itself whilst hunting its prey. "It" primarily appears in the form of "Bob Gray" a.k.a. "Pennywise the Dancing Clown," described by characters who see It as resembling a combination of Bozo, Clarabell and Ronald McDonald, in order to attract its preferred prey of young children, though it occasionally feeds on adults. The novel is told through narratives alternating between two time periods, which is largely told in a third-person omniscient view. It deals with themes which would eventually become King staples: the power of memory, childhood trauma, and the ugliness lurking beneath a façade of traditional small-town values. The novel won the British Fantasy Award in 1987, and received nominations for the Locus and World Fantasy Awards that same year. Publishers Weekly listed It as the best-selling book in America in 1986.

Guns N' Roses

Guns N' Roses

Guns N’ Roses is one of the best hard rock bands in the history. The band formed in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California in 1985. Led by the singer Axl Rose and the guitarrist Slash, the band has released five studio albums (Appetite for Destruction, GNR Lies, Use Your Illusion I and II and The Spaghetti Incident), three EPs, and one live album, selling 110 millions of albums over the world

The original group was formed by Axl Rose(singer), Slash(lead guitarrist), Duff McKagan(bassist), Izzy Stradlin(rhythm giutarrist) and Steven Adler(drummer). Izzy and Adler were replaced by Gilby Crake and Matt Sorum because they had problems with drugs. Between 1994 and 1996, Gilby Crake, Matt Sorum, Duff McKagan and Slash left from the band because the had problems with Axl Rose. Finally, Axl has formed a new band with the same name (but i think they aren’t Guns N Roses). Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum has ended up in Velvet Revolver.

Guns N’ Roses is my favourite group because I think they are the best hard rock band ever and because they was the first band of rock that I heard.
It is their best song(and my favourite song):

Nevada

Nevada

Nevada is a state located in the western and southwestern region of the United States. Nevada is also part of the Mountain States. The capital is Carson City and the largest city is Las Vegas. The state’s nickname is Silver State, due to the large number of silver deposits that were discovered and mined there. "Sagebrush State" and "Battle Born State" are its alternative nicknames. In 1864, Nevada became the 36th state to enter the union, and the phrase "Battle Born" on the state flag reflects the state’s entry on the Union side during the American Civil War. Its first nonnative settlement was called Mormon Station. Nevada is the seventh-largest state in area, and geographically covers the Mojave Desert in the south to the Great Basin in the north. It is the most arid state in the Union. Approximately 86% of the state’s land is owned by the US federal government under various jurisdictions, both civilian and military. As of 2008, there were about 2.6 million residents, with over 85% of the population residing in the metropolitan areas of Las Vegas and Reno. The state is well known for its easy marriage and divorce proceedings, entertainment, legalized gambling and, in eight out of its 16 counties, legalized active brothels.

Illinois

Illinois

Illinois is the fifth-most populous state of the United States of America, and is often noted for being a microcosm of the entire country. It is the most populous state in the Midwest region, however with 65% of its residents concentrated in the Chicago metropolitan area, most of the state has either a rural or a small town character. With Chicago in the northeast, small industrial cities and great agricultural productivity in central and western Illinois, and natural resources like coal, timber, and petroleum in the south, Illinois has a broad economic base. Illinois is an important transportation hub; the Port of Chicago connects the Great Lakes to the Mississippi River via the Illinois River. As the "most average state", Illinois has long had a reputation as a bellwetherboth in social and cultural terms[6] and politics, though the latter has not really been true since the early 1970s.

Three U.S. Presidents have been elected while living in Illinois — Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, and Barack Obama. However, only President Ronald Reagan grew up in the state; he was born in Tampico, and raised in Dixon. Lincoln is the only president buried in Illinois; he is interred at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield. Today, Illinois honors Lincoln with official state slogan,Land of Lincoln, which is displayed on its license plates.

The Northeastern border of Illinois is Lake Michigan. Its eastern border with Indianais the Wabash River and a north-south line above Post Vincennes. Its northern border with Wisconsin. Its western border with Missouri and Iowa is the Mississippi River. Its southern border is with Kentucky and runs along the northern shoreline of the Ohio River. Illinois also borders Michigan, but only via a water boundary in Lake Michigan.

Because of its nearly 400 miles (644 km) length and mid-continental situation, Illinois has a widely varying climate. Most of Illinois has a humid continental climate, with hot, humid summers and cold winters. The southernmost part of the state, from about Carbondale southward, borders on a humid subtropical climate, with more moderate winters. Average yearly precipitation for Illinois varies from just over 48 inches (1,219 mm) at the southern tip to around 35 inches (889 mm) in the northern portion of the state.
