WATCHMEN
Watchmen is a twelve-issue comic book limited series created by writer Alan Moore, artist Dave Gibbons, and colourist Jonh Higgins. The series was published by DC Comics during 1986 and 1987, and has been subsequently reprinted into collected form. Watchmen originated from a story proposal Moore submitted to DC featuring superhero characters that the company had acquired from Charlton Comics.
Watchmen action unfolds in 1985 in the United States are about to enter a nuclear war with the Soviet Union. In this scenario, it tells the story of a group of superheroes from the past and present as the facts surrounding the mysterious murder of one of them.Watchmen superheroes presented as ordinary people who must confront his own ethical conflicts and personal problems, struggling against their problems and failures and, with the notable exception of Dr. Manhattan, devoid of superpowers. The investment that the work done in the conventional superhero archetype, combined with the innovative use of cinematic techniques, abundant symbolism and metafiction, has exerted a major influence on cartoons and later films.
